Webinar Title: Wolfenstein, Yukawa, and Coulomb Potentials --- Neutrino oscillation in matter with heavy, light, and ultralight mediators Speaker: Dr. Xun-jie Xu(许勋杰) (MPIK, Heidelberg) Time: 3:00 pm (Beijing Time), Thursday, 2020-5-21 Zoom: https://zoom.us/j/2151583083 Zoom ID:2151583083 Abstract: The Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein (MSW) effect is of great importance in solar, atmospheric, and accelerator neutrino oscillation. In this talk, we will first give an introduction to the MSW effect in the Standard Model, and then discuss how new physics such as neutrino-matter interactions mediated by light or ultralight bosons can modify the MSW effect substantially. Using semi-classic field equations, we illustrate the variation of the effective potential from Wolfenstein, to Yukawa, and eventually to Coulomb potentials when the mediator mass decreases.
