Abstract: The three neutrino mass and mixing scheme has been established as the standard explanation for the observed flavor conversion of neutrinos during their propagation. We are now entering the so-called neutrino precision era as the experiments start to probe the subdominant effects in the neutrino oscillation probability. The precision era offers the possibility to explore beyond this standard picture, opening up a neutrino window to beyond standard model. I shall discuss the strategies to search for the effects of Non-Standard Interaction (NSI) of neutrinos with matter in neutrino oscillation experiments. I will then describe the theoretical models that can give rise to NSI with couplings comparable to that of weak interactions. These models contain new light particles that give rise to a myriad of testable effects in low energy experiments and observations.
