Abstract: In these talks, I will present an introduction to tensor networks and various applications to quantum many body systems and classical statistical systems. After introducing the basic ideas of tensor networks, I will specifically talk about matrix product states (MPS) and tree-shaped tensor networks including the multi-scale entanglement renormalization ansatz (MERA), and how they work in simulation of quantum and classical models. In particular, I will present how they are used to extract universal data of conformal field theories for critical systems.
