Abstract: We investigate the RG running of fermion observables in two different non-SUSY models based on the gauge group SO(10) with intermediate symmetry breaking for both normal and inverted neutrino mass orderings. Contrary to previous works, we find that the minimal model of the two fails to reproduce the measured observables, whereas the extended model can do so if the neutrino mass ordering is normal. The difficulty in finding acceptable fits is due to (i) the intermediate symmetry breaking and (ii) tension in the value of the leptonic mixing angle $\theta_{23}^\ell$.
